December Sneaked Up on Me!

Nothing screams the beginning of a new month like posting your monthly CURRENTLY. Once again I am linking up with Oh'  Boy Fourth Grade for the December CURRENTLY.

Listening
As I began completing my December CURRENTLY, a notification to watch Brooke Brown on Periscope popped. I found the scope beneficial, and I scribbled down a few notes to improve my literacy centers. Before Brooke's scope, I was listening to the Vince Guaraldi Trio (Holiday) Radio on Pandora.

Loving
Truth be told, I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year...the most wonderful time of the year. I love the sights, sounds, and smells of the holiday season. You can read all about my holiday faves here.  Although this time of year makes my heart sing, there's nothing like the holidays to reinforce the fact...I'M STILL SINGLE at 42. And according to the society, I have failed in life. But one of the benefits of being single during the holidays, I don't have to share my wine.

Thinking
So many TPT ideas trapped in my brain. I need 28 hours in the day. The extra four will be set aside for creating...or napping.

Wanting
Self Explanatory.

Needing
I need to PRIORITIZE. I wasted too much time during my Thanksgiving break week. I intended to complete TPT products, blog, etc. Instead I napped, shopped, and socialized. I squeezed in some time for a couple of blog posts, but I wanted to write several blog posts, in order to schedule posts throughout the week.  Although I failed to meet my blogging quota, I am proud of a motivational post I wrote about strippers.

I managed to start a few TPT products, but I wanted to finish the products before the TPT sale. Didn't happen.

Real or Faux
Faux. I am too lazy to deal with the rigmarole that's accompanied with a real tree. Currently my tree is in a box and that's probably where it will stay. This meme captures my feelings about a Christmas tree this year...

Currently...November

I am linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade for November's CURRENTLY. November.... ALREADY! Where did the year go? In the blink of an eye, Christmas will be here before you know it!

After last week, I am not sad to see October leave. Between the full moon, Red Ribbon Week, Halloween Hi-jinks, and the Fall Carnival...November couldn't have come soon enough. Plus, November is my birthday month. And in honor of my birthday, my weekly linky, Meet the Teacher Monday celebrates all things birthday! When you get a chance, check out my weekly linky here.

Without further adieu, November's Currently...
Listening...
Every morning I listen to Mandisa's Good Morning for the pick-me-up that I need to face the day! I also listen to "Overcomer" as well. Both songs serve as the perfect motivation for me to start my day and to remember to keep hustlin!

Loving...
I am excited about my new Shelia Jane Teach Happy Membership. This evening I plan to explore my membership opportunities. I hope this membership helps to boost my morale. Right now, I feel stuck and I need some guidance to decide if teaching is still where my heart is at.

Thinking...
My TPT to-do list is as long as a CVS receipt. LOL. I need to hire a personal assistant to help me with my many TPT creations that have yet to be created.

Wanting...
It's Monday and I already need a bottle of wine and a nap. I could also use a couple of extra hours each day to help with creating new TPTproducts. And this time change...it makes me think I should be in my pajamas by 5:30 and asleep.

Needing...
I really need the Thanksgiving Break to arrive quick, fast, and in a hurry.

Yummy...
I am so looking forward to my Mother's Thanksgiving feast! Her desserts are legendary. Time to bust out the stretchy pants and eat myself unconscious.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out MeetThe Teacher Monday on my blog. As always, make the ordinary...EXTRAORDINARY!

March...In Like a Lion!

As I scrolled through my Bloglovin feed I noticed several people have already submitted March's CURRENTLY! I cannot believe it's March ALREADY! Well, once again I am linking up with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade for this month's currently.

Listening
I am listening to the Oscar's Live Backstage telecast. I am not a fan of award shows. I am however interested in what the stars are wearing. I consider myself a poor man's Carrie Bradshaw. I have champagne style on a beer budget. We teach for the outcome, not the income. That's what I have to keep telling myself.

Loving
In just 5 short days SPRING BREAK will be here!!! The only thing I ask is that this Texas weather get its act together. Saturday the weather was in the 80s and today we are miserable and shivering in the 30s. If I had to choose one word to describe Texas weather,  one word come to mind, BIPOLAR.

Thinking
Today I learned that something or someone will always make me feel like I don't measure up. Instead of competing and comparing myself with others, I need to stop trying to keep up, and run my own race. I don't need anyone to confirm or validate me. I am here to fulfill my own destiny. In a nutshell, I need to be content with the gifts that God has given me.

Wanting
Saturday, I picked up the cutest pair of cowboy booties. I wanted a pair of "real" boots, but I am not willing to invest $300 in shoes I will only wear a few times a year. My next order of business for my rodeo outfit is to find a cute dress that I will pair with my jean jacket and some jazzy jewelry. Wish me luck;  I may meet my future cowboy husband at the Usher concert. Haa!

Needing
Each year teachers in the state of Texas have to rate their students limited in English proficiency. And each year we have to suffer through the training. And each year I procrastinate until the last minute. I should be completing the modules now instead of blogging.

????????
Any guesses? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

As always, make the ordinary extraordinary. Don't forget to return for Meet the Teacher Monday which will be posted this afternoon.

Currently...February

I am linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for February's Currently.

Listening...
I adore NPR News Radio. I downloaded the app to my phone so I can listen to my favorites shows on Saturday: The Moth Radio Hour, Snap Judgment, All Things Considered, This American Life, Radio Lab and Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! In honor of Valentine's Day, this week's episode of Sound Opinion focused on Musical Couples: Sonny & Cher, Biggie & Faith Evans, ABBA, and Erykah Badu & Common, just to name a few.  Basically, Sound Opinions serves as a platform for two music aficionados to engage in music criticism & conversation of all genres. It's worth checking out.

Loving...
Well, I finished the Divergent Trilogy. I promise not to spoil it for you, so I will shut my trap. I wanted to read the trilogy before the release of the movies. I have this weird thing about reading the book before I see the movie. I feel if I see the movie first, I ruin the opportunity for reading the book...even though the movie and the book are sometimes different.

Thinking...
Last night, I experienced my first bachelorette party complete with party bus and stripper pole, a dream come true:-)This is the ensemble I rocked. I found both the skirt and sweater at Forever 21, or as I refer to it, Forever Hoochie or Forever Ratchet...LOL.

Wanting...
After last week I need several STRONG cocktails. Let's just say, last week made me question my decision to become a teacher. A few times I felt a tinge of regret about now pursuing a career in Speech Pathology. Sometimes I wish I would have went to school and majored in a career that would have yielded a return on my educational investment. But as we all know, you don't become a teacher to make money...you marry rich. HA!

Needing...
I am needing Spring Break to get here: quick, fast, and in a hurry. Last week I earned it. Speaking of breaks, I just heard that our district plans to make up those two ridiculous ice days on Good Friday and our scheduled Memorial Day holiday. So looking forward to that.<---sarcasm.

2 Truths and a Fib...
Truth #1: Yes, folks. The first time my kids attended the Monsters of Hip Hop dance convention I entered the parent battle. I heard the winner received a scholarship for their kids to attend another conference. A free $200 scholarship, I'm in. Long story short, I made a complete ass out of myself, but I won that scholarship. I beat out the other moms and dads in the Houston area for the title. I lost the following year to a mom who felt it was appropriate to grind on another dancer's dad. I may have lost my title, but I still had my dignity and self-respect.

Truth #2: You So You Think You Can Dance fans will appreciate this. My boys participated in a flash mob to promote the movie Step Up 4. On the day of the flash mob, Travis Wall flew in and worked with the dancers. That is an awesome addition to their resumes. My boys as well as the other dancers were even on the local news. How cool is that!?

My boys have also met Napoleon and Tabitha of NAPPYTABS.

Fib #1: I loathe Valentine's Day. This fabricated, over-commercialized "holiday" serves as a platform to make single folks feel like losers, and for business to make more money selling crap like plush stuffed animals encased in balloons. And don't me started on the the cheap, tacky gifts. For a humorous story about one of many useless Valentine's gifts I have received, check out one of my old post titled, Would You Give A Crackhead Crack?

Currently NEWBIE!!

Well this must be the most unsuccessful blog start in the history of blog beginnings. After launching my blog a few weeks ago, I gained a total of 1 follower...ME!! Haa Haa! As a blog veteran, I understand it takes time to build and maintain a following.

So, let's try this again:
Welcome to the Ordinary to Extraordinary Classroom. Sit back, strap on your seat belt and join me on my roller coaster ride of ups and downs as a Special Education Teacher. Although I teach special education, my ideas and activities accommodate grades Pre-K through 1st/2nd. As we adventure together, I plan to share printables, stimulating activities, and hopefully fresh ideas with you.

The other day while perusing Instagram, I ran across @farleyfarleyfarley 's (from Oh' Boy Fourth Grade) CURRENTLY photo. Well, now that yours truly finally started a blog, I am eligible to participate.

Thinking: Rather than create New Year's Resolutions only to abandon them a week later, I jumped on the ONE LITTLE WORD bandwagon and chose a word to guide me through 2014. And the ONE LITTLE WORD I chose: FOCUS!

Rather than watch another one of my projects, brainchild creations, brainstorms, ideas, etc, fall by the wayside, I WILL stop focusing on my fear off failure and work to ensure SUCCESS.

Loving: While on break I started reading Veronica Roth's Divergent series. For a page turning, intriguing read I recommend this thrilling trilogy. I wanted to read the series before the movie release. Nothing thrills me more than watching the pages of a book come alive on the big screen.  Hope you enjoyed my CURRENTLY.

Until next time...make the ordinary extraordinary!
